Historians for Obama

by Norman Markowitz

I wrestled with whether or not to sign this petition titled "Historians for Obama" and decided to, following the withdrawals of Dennis Kucinich and John Edwards. The decision is in line with the position that I have been developing in previous posts and in no way represents of course any collective position of the Political Affairs editorial collective or for that matter the CPUSA.

The petition is really a broad united front of center, center-left, and left scholars, which, whatever its signers differences, reflects the view that Senator Obama is really the best political leader to decisively reverse the disastrous policies that the Bush administration has carried forward and begin actively to repair the damage those policies have done to the people of the United States and the people of the world.

For those readers who are teachers or scholars with some relation to history of social studies who wish to add their names to the petition, check it out here.
