March 4th: What is voter turnout like?
EL PASO, Tex. – Although I am observing this year’s elections as a first time voter, I can say that voter turn out has greatly increased, as far as voting is concerned here in El Paso. El Paso is deeply concerned with having safe and secure borders, being that it is a city that has much interaction with Juarez. Latinos have played an immense role in deciding the candidates for this 2008 election. The high voter turn out in El Paso may be due to the greater impact immigration reforms have taken in today’s political issues. It would be illogical to bypass the impact of the Latino vote in today’s search for a superior leader. Hence voter turnout in 2008’s elections seems to have drawn in a larger crowd, but more importantly a larger Latino crowd.
