The vote to override George W. Bush's veto of the S-CHIP bill is scheduled for Thursday October 18th. Thousands of people around the country have protested the veto and are demanding their congressional representatives vote to override it.
This past week, people in Clemmons, North Carolina, Tucson, Arizona, Lansing, Michigan, and dozens of other communities represented by Republicans in Congress who voted against children's health care turned out to demand those Republicans change their votes.
Pro-health care advocates will also be marching in Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, California, Washington, and New York over the next few days.
