McCain's Fake Economists

John McCain stepped into again this week. This time a letter circulated by the campaign claimed that his economic plan had been endorsed by 300 economists. But when reporters at Politico.com talked with some of the economists listed on the letter, several denied "enthusiastically endorsing" McCain's policies. At least one denied even supporting McCain at all.

The statement that was supposedly endorsed also excluded some key economic questions such as McCain's suspect promise to balance the budget while continuing the Bush tax cuts for the rich and the costly the war in Iraq. Also excluded from the statement was McCain's gas tax holiday fiasco which no economists endorsed as an effective measure for reducing the price of gas.

I guess this passes as McCain's version of straight talk?

The McCain-Clinton Gas Tax Bonanza

By Joel Wendland

So I used the calculator at this site – http://www.jabberwonk.com/flinker.cfm?cliid=13lkzo
to figure out how much I'd save with the John McCain - Hillary Clinton gas tax "holiday." My savings for this summer would total $4.14. I estimate that equals about 5 hours of rent for me and my family. Thanks Hill. Thanks John for your extra efforts to really boost the economy.

Please let's get serious.
