US covert support of Al Qaeda is responsible for all the death and destruction in Syria. This article gives us the background but fails to mention that only Putin, of the major world leaders, stood up to US imperialism's terrorism against the Syrian people and thwarted US plans to overthrow the governments of seven third world countries in the middle east and Africa ( the only real US "success" has been in Libya and the result is chaos). Coincidentally it's the real reason behind Russiagate and the demonization of Putin as a "dictator" (he actually won his election and has more popular support than Trump) but that's another story.
