Bob Dylan speaks up on Barack Obama

Dylan quoted in The Times of London:

"Well, you know right now America is in a state of upheaval. Poverty is demoralizing. You can't expect people to have the virtue of purity when they are poor.

"But we've got this guy out there now who is redefining the nature of politics from the ground up...Barack Obama.

"He's redefining what a politician is, so we'll have to see how things play out. Am I hopeful? Yes, I'm hopeful that things might change. Some things are going to have to."

  1. Coming from the man who wrote and sung the progressive anthem of a generation, "The Times They Are a Changin" this is good. Maybe Bob will come back to politics and take a lot of people with him. Maybe he will even update "Masters of War," and "With God on Their Side," which Bush-McCain et al have updated and expanded through their policies.

  2. Thank you for reporting the usually reticent Dylan's response to Obama.
