Most People in the World Favor Equal Rights for Women

According to a poll conducted by WorldPublicOpinion.org of people in 16 countries around the world, more than 8 in 10 people listed full equal rights for women as important or very important.

The poll, which was conducted in countries on all 5 inhabited continents, also shows that people believe that women have gained greater equality during their lifetimes, but hope their own governments and the United Nations would do more to prevent discrimination.

Some of the countries surveyed included China, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, and Egypt.
