Richardson Said to be Urging Supporters to Back Obama in Iowa

The Iowa Independent is reporting that Gov. Bill Richardson's supporters are being urged to throw their support behind Sen. Barack Obama in precincts in which Gov. Richardson is not viable.

If this turns out to be the case, this means both Rep. Dennis Kucinich and Richardson (who are polling about 10% or 11% combined) are pushing for an Obama victory in the event they do not win.

John Edwards was expected to have an advantage in Iowa as he appeared to have a significant lead in polls that recorded voters' second choice for the caucus. But if both Richardson and Kucinich are able to convince their caucus supporters to back Obama, the junior Senator from Illinois could pull out a significant victory tonight.
